Anger Management The term "Anger Management" can be misleading. One does not manage a feeling rather the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that follow a feeling. There are numerous feelings in the vast language of feelings. The language of feelings means the organized system where human beings become aware through their senses as a means of communication among themselves. As with any organized system of communication, the language of feelings has it's own unique structure. The idea of "words" is replaced with the idea of "feelings" in this unique structure. The language of feelings is structured so that feeling patterns and rules for expression can be studied. Anger is one feeling in the vocabulary of this special language. Anger is defined as a state of passionate displeasure when not getting what is wanted. Passionate means easily moved to strong emotion. Displeasure means annoyance, disapproval. It follows that any event one finds annoying, or finds disapproval with, has the potential to move that person easily to emoting with anger. The term "Anger Management" is really a managing of emotions and behaviors related to the feeling of passionate displeasure. Communication Basics and the Anger Management classes offered through Anger Education are designed to promote awareness and understanding of thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and negative behaviors associated with, or as a result of, anger. This awareness and understanding of anger is the catalyst for potential change.
